A few tips when selling or buying your next home:
1) If you can, avoid using the listing agent to represent your home purchase. A listing agent has an obligation to the seller. FInd yourself a different agent ( who's only obligation is to you!) to show you a house rather than the agent selling the house.
2) Get pre-approved. Before you start looking at homes, find out how much house you can afford.
3) Selling? You may want to consider a flat fee "MLS only" option. Some brokers will offer a discounted listing service for simply adding your home to your local MLS.
4) Real estate marketing is OVER-RATED. Truth is your home is going to need to sell itself. I strongly suggest using a realtor but I wouldn't "pay full price" for a brokers services. Price your home right, get it on the local MLS, keep your home looking neat (inside & out), and get rid of clutter.
5) Take a look at comps. Make sure you have a realistic expectation of your homes value. |
